New Device for Searching Torrents

TVBLOB, a manufacturer of interactive TV devices, has recently introduced its latest consumer product called TVBLOB Box that provides multimedia functions including Bittorrent support that will allow users to search and download torrent files.

Apart from supporting Bittorrent, this TV accessory provides users with Internet connection that will allow them to do web browsing, upload and watch videos from YouTube, access photo sharing websites such as Flickr, and download HTTP and FTP formats.

One of the main highlights of TVBLOB Box is the video call capability.  By connecting this device to digital television set or video camera, users can communicate to other people through video call.  This feature requires subscription, and because the service is only available in some parts of Europe, consumers from the US will not be able to use this function.

In physical form, TVBLOB Box resembles a TiVo, but when it comes to functions, the two are not exactly the same since TVBLOB Box can only store over-the-air television programs and was limited with 160GB hard drive for storing program files.

Meanwhile, these two TV accessories share some similar features and functions including: Over-the-air Dual Tuner that will allow users to record and watch program simultaneously; and access to program information.

Other notable features of this TV accessory are: DivX, Xvid, WMV, MP4, MOV, ASF format support; HDMI output to support videos up to 1080p; Podcast Management; and compatibility to various entertainment devices including personal video recorder (PVR).

Because TVBLOB Box has been designed to support file-sharing activities and bittorrent protocol, some experts believe that record labels might perceive this device as a threat to its business.
