Mininova | Torrents source for everyone

When I first discovered what a BitTorrent file is and its purpose, it was when I stumbled upon a white and blue website called Mininova.org. I was after movie and game downloads and after entering the keywords in Google’s search engine, I was directed to this website that not only had one but over a hundred files of the same movie and game. I was told then to download a program called uTorrent in order to be able to use these torrent files, so I did and waited till the “Finished Download” balloon appeared on screen. I was amazed that the movie and games were there, ready for me to watch and play as many times as I want. Eventually, I gave Mininova a rating of 10 out of 10 with only some suggestions with regards to its overall design and lay-out.

Mininova has been working for three years as a BitTorrent source and search engine that people have flocked relentlessly to upload their own torrent files for people to download and share with. According to the FAQ, the website aims to be an easy-to-use torrent directory, hosting millions of media ranging from movies, games, documents, music, e-books, TV series, and even Japanese anime. Websites with the same nature have scrape data or the amount of leechers (those downloading the torrent files) and seeds (those providing access or uploading the files), which indicates how fast your downloads are regardless of your internet bandwidth connection. These leechers and seeders are what determine the health and security of a certain torrent file, so torrents with the most leeching-seeding activity are what people would usually download.

In terms of torrent health and security, Mininova has a lot of torrent files to choose from with users who actively leech and seed to provide people with enough access to good torrent files. You can expect most of what you are looking for to be available in the directory pages of the website, so all you need to do is look for those that have the most seeds. Go for the files with the most seeds because these are usually faster than downloading files that have only 1 or 5 seeds and leechers. For instance, I searched for this really new game that was featured in a website and lo and behold, the game was there being seeded and leeched by over a hundred users already.

Mininova can improve even more by making their website a lot more professional-looking to attract even more people to their website. But apart from this, the website works well with easy links, smooth site navigation, and quick loading of web pages at all times. What’s also interesting is that each torrent has a comment page where users can leave comments about the file, which at the same time allows other users a chance to check if the torrent is a good one or not. Other users may find other websites more reliable, but for me Mininova is enough to keep my downloading bonanza alive.
