In celebration of its first year anniversary, popular bittorrent site Hulu has announced the winners of “Most Favorite Videos” including critically-acclaimed television series including The Office and Firefly.
Other winners of Hulu’s “Most Favorite Videos” were some popular clips from Saturday Night Live (SNL), Obama’s presidential inauguration, and other remarkable political events in the United States.
In a Hulu blog post, editor Rebecca Harper said the most “Imbedded” online material or the most linked from their site is the Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Meanwhile, Harper said people can visit the Hulu’s blog site to see the lists of other winners.
Last year, the bittorrent site was released from its beta (testing) mode in the US and became popular for file-sharers around the world.
According to Hulu chief executive Jason Kilar’s blog post, the company’s content library has grown more than 300 percent, or from 12,000 videos to more than 40,000 selections.
“Today it includes over 7,100 hours of premium video. If you start watching our library now and kept going, know that you’d be all caught up on the television shows and feature films offered by Hulu by roughly 4:07 a.m. on January 4, 2010”, Kilar added.
Kilar also said the site’s partner has grown from 50 to over130 companies, adding that file-sharers should expect more deal with other business partners that will allow Hulu to expand its market to a larger audience.
According to research firm Comscore, the site has over 24 million users every month and this may potentially expand its market for the next few years.
Meanwhile, Nielsen report said there were over 63 million video streams just in a single month of 2008, making this one of the fastest growing file-sharing sites in the market.
