Google App Supports Two BitTorrent Sites for Free

BitTorrent sites may prove to be a lucrative business when combined with the right marketing schemes but may still prove to be a risky financial venture especially with the growing conflict between movie/music industry and file-sharing websites.

Another challenge of building BitTorrent site is that owners should spend huge sums of money to buy multiple servers to support heavy Internet traffic.

While most BitTorrent sites have invested its money to buy expensive computer system, software, and applications, two companies have used Google’s App Engine which provides optimal scalability to run its web applications.  The good thing about this Google’s service is that it comes for free.

TorrentTab and Vortex, the two torrent search engine sites which use Google’ application, are enjoying this free service without even spending any amount of money to buy hardware and to run its own bandwidth.

David Sanchez, creator of TorrentTab, started on this business using his own computer connection.  But with the growing popularity of his site, which means that higher bandwidth is required to support bigger Internet traffic resulted from increasing web page views, Sanchez has decided to use Google architecture as a solution for his growing site viewers.

One downside of these two torrent search engines is its lack of categorization which means that site visitors may find it hard to search for the media content they are looking for.

According to Google’s website, this application is only available in 500MB data capacity which is enough to support small- to medium-scale BitTorrent sites, allowing up to a maximum of 500 million page visits every month.

While free service is the only available application today, the Internet giant may provide paid service accounts after few months with more advanced features to run large-scale BitTorrent sites.
